With popular characters like Batman, Bugs Bunny, and Shaggy, it’s no wonder that people came out in numbers to play. On PlayStation, MultiVersus is also second ranked on the Most Downloaded list, behind Stray.

The free-to-play alternative to Super Smash Bros, is proving popular on consoles as well, currently placing second on the Xbox Series X/S Top Free Games list behind Fall Guys. On Steam alone, the game reached a peak of 144,456 concurrent players, putting it ahead of Warframe, Rust, and Destiny 2. These cross-platform features bring MultiVersus players into the same ecosystem, allowing the game's player base to truly thrive together.Just one day after launching into open beta, MultVersus, the new fighting game from Warner Bros., is posting some big numbers.
These features include cross-progression to transfer characters and skins, like upcoming Space Jam uniforms, to new platforms, and cross-play, to allow players to team up with their friends no matter which console they're on. Cross-platform multiplayer works in a similar way: players will need to add their friends' WB accounts to their separate WB friend list, then send invites through the WB ecosystem.

Thanks to having IPs to rival Nintendo's popular mascots and third-party additions, as well as being free-to-play and bursting with personality, MultiVersus may take Smash Bros' crown be a legitimate rival to both casual and competitive Smash. Though many other platform fighters have been released to rival Super Smash Bros. in the platform fighter genre, MultiVersus is the one that has gained the most momentum.
